Calculate body fat percentage using the US Army circumference method based on neck, waist, height and (for women) hip measurements.
This tool estimates body fat percentage using the US Army circumference-based method, which relies on tape measurements rather than calipers or scans.
The method uses a logarithmic formula involving neck, waist, height, and for women, hip circumference, based on research correlating these measurements to body fat.
Select your gender, then enter your height, neck and waist measurements in centimeters. Women should also enter hip measurement.
Example: A male with height 175cm, neck 38cm and waist 85cm would get an estimated body fat percentage in the healthy range.
How accurate is this method. It is reasonably accurate for most body types but can be less precise for very muscular or very lean individuals.
Where should I measure my waist. Measure at the navel level for men, and at the narrowest point for women, per Army standards.
