Calculate density, mass, or volume — enter any two values and find the third using the density formula.
This tool calculates density, mass, or volume of any material when the other two values are known.
Density equals mass divided by volume. Mass equals density times volume. Volume equals mass divided by density.
Select what you want to find, enter the two known values in kilograms and cubic meters, then click Calculate.
Example: 10kg of a substance occupying 0.01 cubic meters has a density of 1000 kg per cubic meter, the same as water.
What is the density of water. Water has a density of approximately 1000 kg per cubic meter, or 1 gram per cubic centimeter.
Why does density matter. Density helps identify materials, determine if objects float or sink, and is used in engineering and manufacturing calculations.
